Living legend Marcia Pinder has coached the Dillard High School Girls Basketball team to over 900 wins, 9 state championships, 12 regional titles and 26 district titles. She is the 2017 recipient of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Morgan Wootten Award for Lifetime Achievement in Coaching High School Basketball. In her 40 years at the helm, Coach Pinder has made Dillard High School’s Lady Panthers Basketball one of the best programs in the country.
A graduate of Bethune Cookman University (1974), she was inducted into the Bethune-Cookman University Hall of Fame in 2016. Her numerous achievements include Miami Herald and Sun-Sentinel Coach of the Year, and serving as head coach for the East McDonald’s All American Team 2016. Coach Pinder describes her greatest accomplishment as seeing “student athletes I have worked with pursue higher education using basketball as a vehicle to accomplish their goals at the next level”.
A graduate of Miami Carol City Sr. High School, Coach Pinder has been married to Warren Pinder for 40 years. She is a member of Greater New Bethel Baptist Church and attends St. Ann’s Episcopal Church. A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorortity, Inc., she advises all to “Always remember the family!”.
